A six-year-old boy, who had been missing for the last two days, was found dead in a bed box in southeast Delhi’s Okhla Phase 2 on Friday morning. The police arrested a 19-year-old neighbour who allegedly killed the boy as he suspected him of peeping into their bathroom.
The boy had gone missing while playing outside his house on Wednesday evening. He lived with his parents and two elder brothers in Jeevan Jyoti Rajeev camp.
Early Friday morning, a strong stench from a locked room, barely few metres from boy’s house, drew neighbours’ attention.
“We got the room opened thinking it was a dead rat. But when the bed box was opened, we saw a sack inside. The boy’s hands and head were visible in it. His mouth was tied with a black cloth,” said neighbour Radha, who goes by her single name and was among the first to enter the room.
“Rohit, a 19-year-old youth in the neighbourhood, has been arrested. He told us that the boy looked at his newly wedded wife while she took a bath and made lewd comments,” said Romil Baaniya, DCP (southeast). Baaniya said that Rohit allegedly attacked the boy in anger. “His head hit the edge of the bed. On seeing him bleed, Rohit panicked and wrapped a cloth around his face. He then put the body in a bed box to hide it.”
The boy’s father, who works as a small-time contractor, said he was not aware of anyone having ill-feelings for his son.
Man thrashes 4-year-old Mumbai girl with iron rod to take revenge on her parents
The child has suffered multiple skull fractures and brain injury, is being treated at a private hospital in Bhayander
MUMBAI Updated: Dec 15, 2017
A four-year-old girl is battling for her life at a private hospital in Bhayander, after a man seeking revenge on her parents assaulted her with an iron rod, fracturing her skull on Tuesday night, said police.
Police arrested the accused, Rahim Shaukat Ali Shaikh, 19, on Wednesday. They said he lives in Azad Nagar, Bhayander (East) and is a ragpicker.
Senior inspector Ram Bhal Singh of Bhayander police station said Shaikh was angry with the minor’s parents, as they had objected to him ogling her.
The girl’s parents found her in a pool of blood at a garbage heap near their house.
They took her to Kasturi Hospital, where doctors admitted her to the intensive care unit. She has suffered multiple skull fractures and internal brain injuries, said Dr Rajeev Agarwal. She also has wounds on her eyes and face.
“We arrested Shaikh under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He has confessed. Shaikh has been remanded in police custody till December 18, when he will be produced before Thane court,” said police.
This is not the first such case at Azad Nagar. In November, the body of a 10-year-old boy, who went missing from Powai, was recovered from the area.
In January, the body of an infant was found buried in a dry drain near the shanties.
