ALAPPUZHA: A 30-year-old homemaker was brutally murdered by her physically challenged brother-in-law at Kainakary in Kuttanad on Friday afternoon and police suspect that she was murdered during a rape attempt. The deceased has been identified as Rossy, wife of Biju Joseph, Thamarassery House, Kainakary. The accused Bonny, 46, son of late couple Joychan and Thankamma, surrendered before the Nedumudi police soon after the murder.
Alappuzha DySP P V Baby said Bonny is a bachelor and he has disabilities in leg. “He was staying with his younger brother Biju, his wife Rossy and their two daughters -(five year-old and three-year-old.) The accused was working as a temporary worker in a homeo floating dispensary in Kuttaad. On Friday, Biju, who is a mason, went for his work and children went to school,” he said.
The police source said that the accused might have tried to rape her leading to a clash and ended up in the murder of Rossy. “The accused brutally killed his brother’s wife hacking and stabbing her using a knife. Her internal organs were found out. She had deep injuries on her head and stomach. The accused came to the Nedumudi police station around 1.30pm and informed that she killed his brother’s wife. When the police reached the spot, she was found dead and the knife was found entered into her stomach. The accused is also having a deep wound on his right palm and one of his veins in right palm got cut,” the police said. The accused was first shifted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, but later police shifted him to Kottayam Medical College Hospital fearing protest from the kin of Rossy. The body of Rossy has been shifted to the morgue of Alappuzha Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
The DySP said that they will record the arrest of the accused later as he is now undergoing treatment.
